Welcome to Be Athletica, a women's elevated athletics brand. The design language take 90s varsity codes for court sport apparel and everything the day holds after.

Where it started

Be Athletica began on factory floors, when founder Gauri Sarma noticed on sourcing trips across China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India. She kept seeing the same thing: rolls of good fabric, never used, waiting to become waste.

In 2026, activewear was made for low impact exercise. Basics didn't survive a home wash. Sweats were heavy and never leaned into cotton. Nothing was designed for women who value an essential wardrobe staple.

So she built it, one of the first apparel brands dedicated to women's court-sports, inspired by 90's varsity. 

Colour, found not forecast

Factories hold rolls of fabric that were produced and never used. We source that deadstock and turn it into limited runs, which means when a style sells out, it rarely comes back. Finding a matching fabric, or a better one, takes around 18 months, and only about 15% of our past styles have ever returned. When they do, it's in a new fabric. Our bestselling wrap top started in bamboo and came back in modal.

We don't design from trend reports. We see what's available and build a story around it. Whites, sporty reds, navy and greens at the core, with the occasional burgundy or espresso, and now and then a rare find like matcha or lilac.
